Vails Gate Scholars Host Ecosystem Publishing Party
Students in Mrs. Kelleher, Ms. Zaloga and Mrs. Espinoza’s fifth grade classes hosted a publishing party to celebrate their successes in Unit 2 of Arc: Ecosystems. Students became experts on their ecosystem by researching various questions from plants and animals in the ecosystem to how earth’s major systems are represented in their ecosystems. After answering the questions students created a book on their chosen ecosystem using Book Creator. To encourage a home-school connection, students and their families then worked on creating a diorama or poster of their ecosystem at home to accompany their book. During the publishing party, loved ones were invited to see their child’s work. Scholars and their families were also able to view the work of their classmates.
